What we offer
Introduction
At Understanding Differences we are coordinating various projects for families. These
are both adults alone, and for children and parents to work through together..
In the Crawley area we provide:
- Books in the community; such as schools which will allow anyone easy access to information.
- Drop in centre for people to browse the books, and discuss their situation with others who may have had similar experiences.
On the Internet we provide:
- A list of resources including book titles which people may find useful.
- A forum for people to talk over their situation or simply tell their story.
- Information on what is happening with regards to the Understanding Differences organisation including, events, meeting publications etc.

Each fund is more specific, but all endeavour to create awareness and support for families experiencing any diagnosis, fear, isolation or grief.
- UD Fund. the main operational fund of Understanding Differences
- Young Explorers Fund. Raising awareness from a child’s perspective
- Little Ross Memorial Fund. Raising awareness of congenital heart disease
- Shattered Dreams Appeal. Providing resources for coping with bereavement and child illness.
- Orange Fund. Coping with Physical diagnosis or Loss
- Green Fund. Coping with Social, Emotional, Behavioural diagnosis.
The main focus is to promote self help and peer support by providing readily available resources for people to gain a better understanding of various conditions, terminal illness and ways of coping with bereavement.
